Latisse, synthetic analogue of prostamide, contains Generic Bimatoprost as active component. How Latisse works?

Latisse reduces the pressure in eyes which is referred to as intraocular pressure (IOP).  When IOP gets elevated, it can result in damage to optic nerve (eye nerve) and ultimately loss of vision. Generic Bimatoprost works to lower the IOP by draining the aqueous humor through eyes.

What are the conditions under which the use of Latisse eye drops is contraindicated?

  • Patient with hepatic, renal or respiratory disorders must not use this ophthalmic solution without prior notice of doctor.
  • If you are a pregnant or nursing mother then avoid the use of Latisse eye drops.
  • If you are having any type of hypersensitivity to Generic Bimatoprost or any other ingredients of it.

What are the possible drug interactions of Latisse eye drops?

Latisse eye drops must not be used along with Xalatan eye drops, Careprost eye drops or Latanoprost ophthalmic solution.

How to store Latisse eye drops?

Latisse ophthalmic solution should be stored in a dry and cool place at a temperature below 25°C. Never touch the tip of the medication bottle with your hands. This eye drop must not be used for more than 1 month after opening it. After one month, left product should be discarded.

How to use Latisse eye drops?

First of all, wash your hands before applying Latisse eye drops.

To use Generic Bimatoprost eye drops:

  • Tilt your head back a little and flatten your lower eyelid to produce a small pouch. Hold the sterile applicator or dropper above the eye with the tip down. Look up and away from the dropper as you pinch out a drop, and then close your eye.
  • Apply only the number of drops of Latisse ads per your eye conditions and tolerability levels.
  • Softly press your finger to the inside corner of the eye (near your nose) for approx. one minute to keep the Latisse from draining into your tear duct.
  • If you apply more than 1 drop in the same eye, wait for roughly 5 minutes before instilling in the next drop.


What are the possible side effects of this medication?

Common side effects of Latisse eye drop may include irritation, stinging, eye burning, dryness, redness, watering, discoloration of the iris and increased light sensitivity.


What are the precautionary measures that should be kept in mind while using Latisse eye drops?

  • To prevent infection in the eyes, the tip of the applicator must not be touched.
  • Avoid performing any kind of heavy physical activity like driving after instilling this ophthalmic preparation as these eye drops affects your eyesight after use.
  • If you develop new eye condition (such as eye surgery, infection, or eye injury) while applying Latisse, talk to your physician whether you must begin using a new bottle.
