What is the mechanism of action of Gengraf 25 mg?

Gengraf 25 mg contains the active drug called Cyclosporine, which suppresses cell mediated immune reaction. It inactivates the transcription of cytokine genes present in T cells.  Cyclosporine binds to the protein cyclophillin and forms  a Cyclophillin complex, which inhibits calcineurin which is normally responsible for activating transcription of interleukin2. It also interferes with lymphokine production and interleukin release. Due to the inhibition of interleukin release, the T cell gets deactivated and the immune system gets suppressed.

What are the possible contraindications of Gengraf 25 mg?

  • Don't use Gengraf  if you are hypersensitive to this medicine or its ingredients
  • It is contraindicated in abnormal renal function and malignancies.
  • It is also not suitable in any infectious disease.
  • If you are using any treatment for psoriasis.

What is the dosage of Gengraf 25 mg?

Take one capsule of this medicine orally with a glass of water. It should be taken twice daily with or without food. The Dose can be titrated according to the need of patients.

What happens if you miss the dose?

If you miss the dose of this medicine, then take it as soon as possible. But if time gap is more between miss dose and regular dose then skip the miss dose.

What happens in case of over dose?

If you see the overdose, the symptoms produced like collapsing, swelling on legs and pale skin, then immediately call a doctor or take an emergency help.
